Who Is it for?

The House of Bread Food Bank has two main functions. The first function is to supplement those who have food but for some reason need that extra support. This could be someone who has to decided between paying bills or buying food, or an elderly person who may not be able to leave the house to buy food due to ill health or bad weather. The second function is to supply people who are either homeless or without regular accommodation.

How does it work?

The House of Bread Food Bank is not only a referral food bank it is accessible to anyone in need.

We also deal with other organisations and provide food bags to them. This means that it does not deal directly with some end users but instead deals with the organisation that is already in contact with people in need. The organisation then asks us for what ever they need, whether it be food bags or individual products. They then receive the food or other items in the form they have requested.

What do we need from you?

Due to the two main functions of the food bank anything that is donated will have some level of demand. However this being said, some food stuffs are more popular than others and therefore need more donations. These popular products are as follows:

  • Biscuits
  • Tinned Fruit
  • Pasta
  • Rice

The House of Bread Food Bank does not just deal with food. We also store toiletries, as these can be another expenditure that is essential for health and well being. Once again everything has some level of demand but some products are higher than others. These include:

  • Body Spray
  • Toothbrushes
  • Soap
  • Shampoo + Conditioner
  • Flannels
